Some key Players in the Laboratory health care Space are calling on the Government for improvement in ethical Standards, Quality reagents in Hospitals and diagnostic centres across the country, as well as Continuous monitoring of Practitioners to ensure no hiding space for quacks.

Speaking at a forum in Lagos with the theme ” Laboratory Quality and diagnostic key to Sustainable health care, they noted that an estimated two hundred and fifty thousand Nigerians die annually due to wrong diagnosis and medical errors.

Nigeria has witnessed several high profile deaths attributes mainly due to medical errors, diagnostic failures as well as severe clinical negligence .

These and many more were noticed recently, making the medical community face increasing scrutiny by the courts over these tragedies.

How to address these Challenges mostly attributed to brain drain and quackery formed the trust of discussion at this forum of medical laboratory science Council of Nigeria and Lagos state College of health Technology with the theme “Laboratory Quality and diagnostic Accuracy key to Sustainable health care

The importance of an accurate medical laboratory diagnostics report can not be Overemphasized in the health care delivery as it guides Medical Doctors on the right treatment decision for patients, helps in infection control, controls, and ensure safe blood supply.
