Nigeria’s security challenges are becoming increasingly complex, with terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and communal conflicts threatening lives, livelihoods and development.
Beyond military responses, conflict resolution experts say lasting stability will require dialogue, justice, conflict prevention and renewed trust among communities and institutions.
Speaking at the gathering of conflict resolution professionals in Abuja, keynote speaker Emmanuel Mamman says sustainable peace must go beyond the absence of violence to building institutions and communities that can resolve disputes without resorting to conflict.
Other speakers noted that conflict is part of human interaction, but when poorly managed, can escalate into violence and insecurity.
They stressed the need for early intervention, negotiation and constructive dialogue
The speakers called for stronger conflict-management mechanisms, saying sustained dialogue and peaceful resolution of disputes remain essential to national stability and development.
