Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Imo East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former deputy governor emerged through a consensus arrangement during the party’s senatorial primary election held in Owerri.
The PDP National Election Committee for Imo State, led by Chairman Chijioke Akanwa, during the exercise,explained the modalities for the primary and urged members to maintain order and unity throughout the process.
Speaking after his emergence, Madumere described the outcome of the exercise as a strong indication that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party remains united, focused, and determined to regain political relevance in Imo State and across the country.
A total of one hundred and seventy-six accredited voters participated in the exercise and unanimously affirmed Eze Madumere as the party’s senatorial candidate for Owerri Zone through a voice vote.
