Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped victim, recovered 18 rustled cattle, and arrested four suspected drug peddlers during separate security operations in Kebbi State.

In a statement, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the operations were conducted on October 18, 2026, in Danko-Wasagu and Maiyama Local Government Areas of the state.

According to the statement, troops, working alongside local vigilantes, responded to a distress call following an attack by suspected terrorists in Rambo Village, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, where the attackers attempted to kidnap residents and rustle cattle.

The troops engaged the attackers in a firefight, successfully rescuing a 40-year-old man, identified as Suleiman Maiyaki Ikara, and recovering 18 cattle.

In a separate operation, troops, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, raided suspected drug trafficking locations in Dakin Kowa, Karaye, and Gubba communities in Maiyama Local Government Area.

The operation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be illicit drugs.

The suspects and recovered substances have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary action.

The Joint Task Force has commended local communities for their cooperation and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and other criminal activities.
