Farmers and herders of the Batta Kingdom in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State have signed a peace accord to end the face-off between the two warring groups.
During the event that took place at the Demsa Local Government Secretariat, a traditional peace and arbitration committee comprising of seven members was constituted.

The chairman of the technical committee, Lawrence Ngabale, said disputes, trespass on farms, or misunderstandings between farmers and herders were amicably resolved through the traditional system of arbitration and conflict resolution in the past and expressed regret that this had been abandoned with both sides resorting to violence.
This state government waded into the crisis by creating a peace arbitration committee with Fulani and Bwatiye people as members and saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that all sides to every dispute get justice.
