Police operatives from the Kuje Division of the FCT Police Command have rescued a man, identified as Bashir Usman, from irate mob following an alleged attempt to abduct a five-year-old child in Angwan Lado, Kuje Area Council.
In a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the Command said it received a distress call that an unidentified man was being assaulted by a mob over the alleged incident.
The suspect has been taken into protective custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegation and determine whether others were involved.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, condemned the mob action and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that jungle justice is a criminal act.
The Command also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and advised residents to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
