The Federal Government of Nigeria has re-affirmed its unwavering commitment to fostering social dialogue, promoting decent work and ensuring that industrial relations is anchored on fairness,equity and mutual respect.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi made this public while speaking during the Quadrennial Conference of NUPENG in Lagos.
The Minister represented by the Director Trade Union Service, Industrial Relations, Amos Fadipe said in line with the theme of the conference Justice remains a bedrock of industrial relations’ harmony when voices of workers are not only heard but also respected.
Dingyadi while acknowledging the resilience role NUPENG plays to National growth and stability in the country assured the Union of greater partnership and support in building an inclusive Labour system.
President of NUPENG, Williams Akporeha urged the government to tackle issues of insecurity hampering operations as Petroleum truck hijacking and kidnapping have risen sharply.
His PENGASSAN counterpart, Festus Osifo also speaking at the conference acknowledged the collaboration between the two unions in the Oil and gas sector which has birthed better welfare package for members
The conference is expected to produce a new leadership that will steer the affairs of the Union in the next four years.
