The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has stopped the attempt by the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, from depriving retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Udom Ekpoudom, of being the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.
Justice Donatus Okoronwo who responded to a motion filed by Ekpoudom, challenging the attempt by APC and Akpabio through their counsel, Umeh Kalu ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to produce certified true copies of its report of the May 27 APC primary election, for the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.
The court also ordered INEC to produce Certified True Copies of the Commission’s official timetable and scheduled of activities for the February 2023 general elections.

The suit is challenging APC’s failure to summit Ekpoudom’s name to INEC as the party’s candidate for the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District for the 2023 general elections.
The suit is also pursuant to INEC’s delay to avail the plaintiff, the report of the Commission on the primary election and other relevant documents which he applied for as required by law.
Justice Okoronwo therefore adjourned the matter to July 19, 2022.
