The Federal University, Gusau has debunked the story, making the rounds on social media, that bandits have raided the university campus, located along Gusau – Funtua Road, last Thursday.
A statement by the Information Officer of the university, Umar Usman, denied that there was any bandit attack.
He added that the incident may have occurred as a result of the panic by the students, arising from the kidnap at the GGSS
Jangebe and other related issues of insecurity in the state.
The statement added that, when the students sighted some Fulani men returning from a ceremony, they got frightened and scampered for safety.

The university, therefore, condemned in totality, those circulating such news, without making any effort, to authenticate it, from the concerned authorities.
The management also cautions staff and students, against forwarding social media messages as received, without proper scrutiny.
The general public is therefore, advised to disregard the story, as it was untrue and misleading.
Staff and students are also urged, to remain calm, and continue with their normal academic activities.
