Farmers in Kano State have been advised to look out for quality as they make purchases of fertilizers during the farming season.
The advice is coming on the backdrop of the implementation of the national fertilizer (control) act 2019 by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Speaking during a meeting between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Fertilizer Producers And Suppliers Association of Nigeria, Quality control Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Sunday Oke, said they are not out to arrest anyone, but rather to implement the act.
He said Fertilizer Control Act 2019, signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, is aimed at safeguarding the interest of farmers against nutrient deficiencies and potential dangers that may result from the use of harmful substances in fertilizer.
