The Federal Government has announced the commencement of a 200-kilometre coastal highway project in Edo State.

Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this during a dinner organised in his honour by the State government in Benin city, after inspecting Federal road projects in Edo State.

He commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for his developmental strides within the short period of office and leadership.

According to Umahi, Edo State is to benefit from the ongoing coastal highway project of the Federal Government, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to include the State in the scheme.

The project will deliver a 200km stretch in Edo, alongside other States earlier slated to benefit.

The Minister attributed Edo’s inclusion in the coastal highway road project, to Governor Okpebholo’s impressive governance and urged him to remain steadfast.

He also encouraged Edo people to sustain their trust in President Tinubu and support the partnership between the State and the Federal Government.

For Governor Okpebholo and other dignitaries, the milestone signals Edo’s steady march towards development.

The coastal highway is designed to physically connect Nigeria’s western and southeastern regions, enhancing cross-country connectivity, trade, and economic growth.
