Fg approves new DTA for civil servants, takes effect Oct. 1

The federal government has approved a review of Duty Tour, Estacode and other allowances for federal civil servants from grade levels 1 to 17.

The reviewed allowances are expected to take effect from October one this year.

In a circular dated April 23, 2026 and signed by the Chairman, National, Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, NSIWC, Ekpo Ntah, the government reviewed various allowances including Duty Tour, Teaching allowances, local running allowance, Estacode allowance and disengagement allowance.

According to the reviewed rates, public officers on grade levels 16-17 will be paid 109,000 naira as Duty Tour allowance; Grade levels 14-15 are to receive 73,000 naira, while those on Grade levels 12-13 will get 60,000 naira and levels 7-10 will be paid 51,000 naira.

Also Grade levels 5-6 are to receive 45,000 naira as Duty Tour allowance while Grade 1-4 will get 30,000 naira

With regards to payment rate for estacode, Permanent Secretaries will receive 1,040 dollars, while public officers on grade levels 15-17 will receive 737 dollars, Grade levels 7-14 666 dollars and Grade levels 1-6 357 dollars.

The review affected various categories of allowances across all sectors of the federal public service.
