The Nigerian government has begun the distribution of the National Health Insurance Scheme Identification cards to Persons With Disabilities, PWDs, across the country.
Executive secretary, the National Commission For Persons With Disabilities, James Lalu, said during the first edition of the national health insurance scheme identification cards distribution to PWDs on Wednesday in Abuja that the exercise is aimed at addressing their health challenges.
The Disability colony in Karimajiji, Abuja received officials from the National Commission For Persons With Disabilities in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

The officials assured the PWDs that government remained committed to addressing the challenges confronting people with disabilities.
The Disability colony in Karimajiji appreciated the team for taking up the responsibility of addressing the educational challenge of children and skills empowerment of adults in the area.
The Federal Government has over time promised the about five hundred PWDs in FCT of plans to Improve the Healthcare delivery system through the National Health Insurance Scheme.
