The Federal Government is calling for stronger psychosocial support and community-based reintegration for Nigerians returning from migration, especially those facing trauma, stigma and economic hardship.
The Director of Migrant Affairs at the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Catherine Udida, spoke at a capacity-building workshop on psychosocial support, trauma-informed care and reintegration for civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
She says many returnees come back after losing jobs, leaving families behind or experiencing crisis and trauma, only to face rejection and stigma in their communities.
Udida wants government agencies, civil society groups and international partners to work together to provide livelihood support, psychosocial care and sustainable reintegration for returning migrants.
