The Federal Government has refuted the false and misleading reports circulating on social media alleging that Federal Government Girls’ College, FGGC, Monguno, Borno State, was attacked.
The Ministry of Education in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade described the report as entirely false, irresponsible, and capable of causing unnecessary panic, fear, and anxiety among parents, guardian, and the general public.
The ministry states that there was no attack on Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno, and the school remains safe and secure, with all students, staff, and boarding facilities fully protected and accounted for.
The statement says academic, boarding, and other school activities are continuing uninterrupted in a peaceful environment, while reaffirming the Education minister, Tunji Alausa’s assurance of placing the safety, security, and welfare of every learner in all Federal Government Colleges as top priority of the Federal Government.
The statement noted that FGGC, Monguno, operates under robust security arrangements, to ensure the continuous protection of students, staff, and school facilities.
The Minister further clarified that no student of Federal Government Girls’ College, Monguno, was involved in the incident being falsely linked to the school on Media, explaining that the individuals affected were remedial students outside the college, while the Borno State Government is already taking the necessary steps to ensure their safety and welfare.
