The Federal Government has clarified that the Nigerian Air Force, NAF under the Operation Hadin Kai carried out a deliberate and intelligence-led operation, on terrorist targets in Jilli area of Borno state and not an indiscriminate attack as insinuated.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris gave the clarification in a statement in Abuja, noting that the operation was
conducted in one of the most active insurgent corridors designated a high-risk zone with clear security advisories restricting civilian presence.
He extends the Federal Government’s deepest condolences to the families of those affected and sympathises with the injured. The Minister announced that a directive has been given to review intelligence, targeting, and execution, to address any gaps and ensure accountability where needed.
The government he noted is working with the Borno and Yobe State Governments, as well as NEMA and SEMA, to provide humanitarian support to affected families.
