The Federal Government has digitised the selection process for winners of the 2026 World Teachers’ Day awards to enhance transparency, accountability and proper documentation.
Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, made this known at a media conference in Abuja to herald activities marking the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebration.
Professor Ahmad said the move from a manual to a fully digital portal is designed to eliminate human interference, favouritism and duplication of entries, while creating a verifiable database of outstanding teachers across the federation.
According to her, the new platform will allow teachers in public and private schools to apply or be nominated online, with criteria including years of service, innovation in teaching, learner outcomes and community impact, all to be assessed through uploaded evidence and peer review.
