The Minister of information and Culture Lai Mohammed has distanced the federal government from the arrest of the lead negotiator between the terrorists and passengers kidnapped from the attacked Abuja-Kaduna train, Alhaji Tukur Mamu by the Egyptian police on Wednesday.
Mohammed said this while responding to questions from State house correspondents at the end of the weekly meeting of the executive council of the federal government on Wednesday.
He also said the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will do everything possible to ensure a free , fair and credible 2023 General Elections, noting that recent elections have shown clearly that the President is committed to a transparent democratic process.
He also responded to allegations that 14 out of the 19 Resident electoral commissioner nominees sent to the national assembly for confirmation were card carrying members of political parties.
The information and Culture Minister allayed fears of Nigerians about the issue of fuel scarcity which has resurfaced in some parts of Abuja.
