As part of efforts to give women more inclusion in the agricultural sector, the Federal Government has started the training of women in the South South region on climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
The workshop which in Benin city the Edo State capital is to ensure commitment to gender mainstreaming at all levels of the agricultural sector.

the Federal Government through its Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is on a mission to address the various challenges faced by women farmers especially from climate change.
To this end, the Ministry is training women in the South Sout geopolitical zone to help them build resilience to the threats and the impacts of weather on agricultural production and to enable them access inputs, feeds, finance and information.
Key players in the agricultural sector and women farmers commended efforts by government in the sector even as they expressed optimism that the workshop will ensure increased food sufficiency and translate into food security and economic growth in the country.
The South South women farmers from Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers States who were part of the climate change initiative received clean stoves from the ministry.
