The Federal Government has concluded plans to establish a textile and garment industry in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, North-West Nigeria
The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Maryam Katagun, who stated this during an advocacy visit to the state, said the industry is in line with the drive to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed population.

Katagun, who led the Federal Government delegation on the visit, said the establishment of the textile and garment park in the state would open it up for more economic activities and enhance both the state internally generated revenue as well as that of the country.
The Minister further stated that the industry to be established in Funtua is among the six priority projects recently approved by the Federal Executive Council under the Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan.
Responding on behalf of the Katsina State Government, the Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, thanked the Federal Government for finding the state worthy of the industry stating that the Governor has already approved 180 hectres of land for the purpose.
Both teams have visited the proposed site for a feasibility study with the view of hitting the ground running to bring the industry to reality in the next 18 to 24 months with its groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for next year.
