In what officials are calling the first concrete step towards a national cocoa revival, the Federal Government has flagged off the distribution of one million high-breed cocoa seedlings to farmers across Nigeria.
Speaking at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, CRIN, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, said the initiative is designed to return Nigeria to its rightful place among the world’s top cocoa producers.
He declared that despite losing its position in the global top three, Nigeria has not lost its soil, and it is time to reclaim it.
