Stakeholders and experts in the water, climate and environment sectors have converged on Kano for a three-day engagement organised by the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes, ACReSAL.
The session is focused on accelerating the implementation of the Strategic Catchment Management Plan for the seven states within the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin.
Traditional leaders, academics and experts from Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Jigawa, Bauchi, Katsina and Plateau states are meeting to develop a common implementation strategy for the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin.
The National Coordinator of ACReSAL says the engagement will provide member states with a clear and unified roadmap for implementing priority interventions.
Commitment to strengthening water resource governance and ensuring sustainable management of the basin was also advanced.
At the end of the three-day engagement, stakeholders hope to reach a common implementation framework for the seven states, with the goal of promoting sustainable water, climate and environmental development.
