There are Indications that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume may be making moves to halt the proposed Nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.
This follows a last minute meeting at the instance of the SGF Monday evening.
As at the time of filing this report, the closed door meeting was ongoing.
ait.live gathered from a source at the SGF office that the NLC President, Joe Ajaero is leading the delegation to the SGF in the closed door meeting.
Although the reason for the meeting has not been disclosed, but its not unconnected to the protest over hardship scheduled by NLC for Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28, February, 2023
The national administrative council of the NLC had a meeting earlier on Monday at the Labour House in Abuja.
It was gathered that the meeting was meant to restrategise ahead of the proposed nationwide protest.
Already, ait.live learnt that civil society groups, who are allies to the NLC have started demonstrations in Lagos and other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress, TUC in a briefing on Monday says it is not part of the planned protest as it is at the moment satisfied with the level of government response to a 14 day ultimatum jointly issued with the NLC on non implementation of 16 point agreements reached on October 2, 2023
