The Federal Government has granted approval for the regulation of showing money rituals and other vices in Nigerian films.
Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board(NFVCB) Shaibu Husseini made this public in Enugu State at a National Stakeholders forum on Smoke-Free Nollywood.
Husseini said that the creative industry is faced with an emergency that requires bold and ambitious action from industry players, parents and guardians.
He explained that the Minister of Arts Culture and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa has approved the regulation in pursuant to section 65 of the NFVCB Act 2004; a copy of which has been forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Justice for gazette.
Vices captured in the regulation include money rituals. ritual killing, tobacco and tobacco products as well as nicotine products promotion and glamorisation display in movies, musical videos and skits.
