The Federal Government on Monday opened its case against popular social media influencer, Justice Chidiebere, widely known as “Justice Crack,” on an amended three-count charge bordering on cybercrime and felony.

But first, Chidiebere had to take a fresh plea before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, where he maintained his innocence of the charge

Following the plea, the first prosecution witness, an operative named Oronto Douglas, continued his evidence-in-chief.

Douglas affirmed to the court that forensic audio and video recordings of the defendant’s interview were downloaded onto a flash drive, backed by a duly signed certificate of compliance.

Meanwhile, defense counsel prayed the court to sustain the five-million-naira bail conditions previously granted to the social media commentator.

The prosecution raised no objections to the request, which was subsequently granted by the court.

Presiding Justice Joyce Abdulmalik has adjourned the matter to September 28th.

The adjournment will allow the prosecution to apply to the head of the court’s IT department for subsequent viewing of the forensic evidence, following an earlier application to the Deputy Chief Registrar.
