FG responds to criticisms over insecurity, high inflation rate

The Federal Government says it is not downplaying current economic and security challenges facing the country but it is deploying renewed strategy to combat them head on as a responsibility it owes the citizens.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris who gave the assurances in a statement on Sunday said in combating the new trends in insecurity it has taken the battle to the criminals den which has resulted in the arrest and neutralising of several kidnappers and bandits in the last one week.

He noted that the resurgence of attacks in Plateau State is regrettable and assured that all perpetrators of violence in the state and other parts of the country will be brought to book. Idris called on Nigerians to be wary of divisive narratives in the wake of the current situation in the country.

The Minister also announced that in addressing the economic challenges and attendant impact on citizens, the Federal Government is adopting a coordinated approach to bring down inflation and stabilise foreign exchange rates to boost a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

He said the President Tinubu administration is committed to earn tne trust of Nigerians and would intensify efforts in the ongoing fight against corruption as there will be no sacred cows.
