The Federal Government has threatened to revoke part of the ongoing Sokoto–Gusau dualization road project over what it describes as an unacceptable pace of work.

The warning came during an inspection tour by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Mohammed-Goronyo who expressed dissatisfaction with a section of the road handled by Triacta Construction Company.

The threat is coming barely a week after a federal media team inspected the 372-kilometre Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Sokoto dualization project, the Minister of State for Works is back on the road.

At kilometre 105, a section awarded to Triacta Construction Company, the minister expressed strong displeasure.

With only sixteen percent completion recorded, Bello Mohammed-Goronyo warned that the Federal Government may revoke the contract if the pace of work does not improve.

But the Triacta officials defended their performance, insisting that they are delivering quality work, while blaming insecurity in the area for the slow progress.

At Tazame community within the Gusau axis, the minister inspected another section of the road handled by a different contractor.

Unlike the earlier stop, Bello Mohammed-Goronyo expressed satisfaction with both the quality and speed of work observed on site.

The Minister of State for Works says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed strict monitoring of all federal road projects to ensure quality delivery and completion within approved timelines.
