The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, NCCSALW, says it would destroy over 3,000 recovered illicit small arms and light weapons and associated materials on Thursday.
National Coordinator of the Centre, Major-General Abba Dikko (Rtd) made this known at a news conference in Kaduna, North-West Nigeria on Wednesday evening.
He said the seizure of the illicit weapons in the last 18 months were made majorly from the North-West, South-South, South-East and North-Central geo-political zones of the country.

The Coordinator said that efforts are ongoing to mainstream manufacturers of light weapons in order to tape from their ingenuity to enhance local production.
The National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons was established in May 2021.
