The Federal Government through the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has commenced the construction of the Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) in Keffi and Lafia areas of Nasarawa State.
Chief of staff to president Muhammadi Buhari, prof Ibrahim Gambari who performed the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony of the institutes said the projects are a means of providing extensional services to Nigerian farmers and agro- allied industries in the country.

Professor Gambari said the federal government ‘s intention is to reduce and eventually end dependence on such machinery and equipments
Executive Vice-Chairman of NASENI, Prof. Mohammed Haruna said the development was part of government’s intention to revolutionize farming and food processing technology.
Governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule assured that the state would continue to collaborate with NASENI for other interventions in order to galvanise its development effort.
