The Federal government has called on journalists to be factual in their reportage at all times.
Minister Of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige gave the advice at a workshop in Abuja, for the Labour correspondents Association in Nigeria.
Ngige, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachollom Daju, expressed worry that despite having nine departments, with a focus on factory inspection, health and safety at work, and Employment standards, among others, many still limit the functions of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to only mediation and conciliation during strike actions by workers unions.

He said journalists should accord other government activities visibility as is done when the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, embarks on strike.
The Permanent Secretary who called on journalists to take advantage of the freedom of information act, and FOI to get more information about the mandate of government establishments, also warned against the publishing of fake and unverified news.
