The Federal government has vowed to weed out redundant Federal civil servants who fail to meet employees’ performance targets.
President Muhammadu Buhari signed executive order 0012, which led to the replacement of the annual performance evaluation report, APER, with the modern employee performance management system, PMS.

Head of the civil service of the federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan at the implementation workshop with permanent Secretaries, said APER was perceived to portray the civil service as inefficient and ineffective in the implementation of the ministerial mandate along the nine priorities areas of the Buhari administration.
Folasade Yemi-Esan revealed that the PMS which will take effect in the first quatre of 2023, is also targeted at encouraging Accountability among civil servants.
The head of the Federal civil service said the PMS is digitalised to conform with global best practices.
