A late evening fire on Tuesday has razed down a section of the popular Eke-Ukwu Market in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, South-East Nigeria.
AIT.live gathered that goods worth millions of Naira were destroyed by the fire outbreak, but no life was lost. The cause of the fire incident is yet to be unknown .
Eye witnesses say some traders who were taken unawares, made efforts to quench the fire in order to save their goods but they could.not succeed due to the intensity of the fire.

The fire service in the local government area, reportedly could not respond on time to quench the raging fire because its equipment were not functioning properly.
However, youths in the area mobilised and stopped the fire from spreading to other sections of the market.
