Nwube was abducted late Wednesday by gunmen suspected to be armed herdsmen, around Awgu, in Enugu State along the ever busy Aba-Okigwe-Enugu Expressway.
He was on a return trip from the commercial city of Aba in Abia State to Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital in South-East Nigeria.
A woman and her baby who were travelling with him in his personal vehicle and equally taken away by the kidnappers, have also been set free.
Information on the release of the kidnapped journalist was made known by his colleague in the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in Ebonyi State, Nabob Ogbonna.
“Finally, Uchenna has been released from the kidnappers’ net, right now he is at Awgu police station. He was also released alongside with the woman he was carrying”
There is no information on whether any ransom was paid to secure their release, as the kidnappers had demanded N50 million to spare their lives
The Police are however yet to make any statement on the reported release of the kidnapped journalist.
