The Canadian high Commission building In Abuja has been gutted by fire and staff members have all been evacuated following the inferno which broke out at midday.
According to reports, the fire started around 11:30AM with emergency fire fighting trucks moving in to put out the flames while rescue operations were ongoing.
Police and private security guards were on high alert at the complex, restricting the entrance of non-embassy staff within vicinity.
At the time of filing this report Emergency crew were seen driving off from the high commission and the car park almost empty.
Meanwhile, The high commission’s public relations officer Oluwademilade Kosemani who confirmed the incident via a phone call said he would provide more information on the incident pending further investigations.
