The Main Market in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State was on Monday morning gutted by fire with property worth millions of Naira destroyed.
This is the second time in three years that traders would suffer various forms of losses as a result of fire incidents in the same market.

The Immediate past Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Geroge Alli, who confirmed the incident to Raypower on the telephone, said men of the Nigerian Fire Service was at their best to reduce the effect of the incident time despite the difficulty in gaining access to the market.
Although the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained at the time of filling this report.
Alli, however, said that relocating the market to a more open environment remains the best option.
The former Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, who witnessed the incident, said security has since been beefed up around the market to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
