Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commended the Imo State Government for providing an additional 2,000 empowerment items to complement the 500 originally allocated to women in the state.
The First Lady spoke at the presentation of empowerment items to 500 women drawn from the 27 local government areas of Imo State.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s women empowerment initiative reached Owerri, Imo State, with the distribution of items to 500 women from the state’s 27 local government areas.
The initiative is a partnership involving the Office of the First Lady, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, and the Imo State Government.
The First Lady and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, expressed appreciation for the additional 2,000 items provided by the state government.
The empowerment programme was held simultaneously across the five states of the South-East geopolitical zone.
Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, described the First Lady’s decision to personally unveil the empowerment programme in the state as a demonstration of her commitment to the women of Imo.
The wife of the Imo State Governor also pledged her support for the initiative and continued collaboration with the Office of the First Lady and the SDGs to improve the lives of women in the state.
Beneficiaries say the initiative will not only support individual women but also strengthen their families and communities.
