Senator Elisha Abbo, representing Adamawa North in the 10th Senate, has alleged that the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, is behind the Appeal Court ruling that sacked him from the Senate.

Senator Elisha Abbo further alleged that five other senators who worked against the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate have been targeted for removal from the upper legislative chamber.

Senator Elisha Abbo, while reacting to his removal by the Appeal Court, says Senator Orji Uzor Kalu alongside three others, will also be removed soon.

Senator Abbo, who won the election with over 11,000 votes, expressed disappointment that the judiciary is being used by some people he referred to as a “cabal”, noting that the Judgement is a coup against democracy.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to note that the democracy he fought for during military rule is not the one being practised at the moment.

Abbo says the judgment is strange and shocking because he won squarely.

He also alleged that his stand against the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC is another issue that worked against him.

Abbo added that there was no plan to impeach the Senate president; however, there was an uproar over the lopsided committee allocation, where chairmen were appointed without following Senate rule on ranking.

According to him, those who worked for Senator Abdulaziz Yari were shortchanged, and first-time senators who worked for Godswill Akpabio were given grade-A committees.

He, however, appealed to his supporters to remain calm, as according to him, he cannot be taken out of the political space, vowing to re-contest in 2027 and win.
