At least five 5 persons have been killed in a clash between farmers and herders at Barkuta Village in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.
Police spokesman, Wasi’u Abiodun, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said it occurred on Tuesday (August 27) at about 7 am, when one Sule Muhammed went to his farm with his son, and sighted some cattle on the farm, which prompted Sule to instruct his son to go home, while he traced the owner of the cattle.
Trouble reportedly started when he did not return home, which necessitated his family to search for him.
He was found dead in a river within the area.

Abiodun added that this led to an inter-tribal fracas where five people, not dozens according to some reports, lost their lives.
Upon receipt of the information, the Area Commander of Bosso, Assistant Commissioner of Police Galadima Lassa, led police tactical teams, including the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Maikunkele to the area.
The police deployed tactical teams have restored normalcy has been restored to the area with a constant monitoring of the situation
