Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum Inuwa Yahaya, has attributed the cause of farmer-herder conflict to the inability of past administrations to tackle the peculiar problems associated with the management of rural herders, transportation and security of their cattles.
The state governor noted that if the needs of the herders were addressed, clashes with farmers would have been nipped in the bud.
He said their government should understand the needs of the herders and the route and management of their cattles.
The state governor disclosed this while inaugurating the committee to assess cattle routes, grazing game, and forest reserves in the state.
The committee made up of farmers and herdsmen, is expected to take a holistic view on the issues and propose solutions.
