Ecological, as well as environmental degradation occasioned by the over flow of power dams faced by some communities of the nation’s food basket leading to persistent flooding, will soon be a thing of the past.

Governing Council of the Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission, HYPADEC, made this known during its on the spot assessment visit to affected areas in Makurdi and Otukpo local councils of Benue State.

The rail line which passes through genabe phase 1 area around the BIPC housing estate within Makurdi metropolis may have many benefits in the future but for now it is obstructing the free flow of Water collected by the wide canal leading to persistent flooding.

It was therefore heart warming when the Governing council of the hydro power processing areas development commission HYPADEC paid this assessment visit.

The council also visited an area along the Ishaya Bakut way with a similar challenge then proceeded to Otukpo local council for the same purpose.

Earlier they were received by the State Governor Samuel Ortom who advised them to uphold justice equity and fairness in all their endeavour.
