The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri has offered scholarships up to university level to seven children including toddlers, who were using local canoes to render domestic support to personnel of the joint military taskforce JTF, codenamed Operation Delta Safe at its headquarters in Yenagoa during the 2022 ravaging floods.
The governor made the offer during an end of the year get together organized by the Commander of Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Aminu Hassan at the headquarters of the joint military task force located at Igbogene in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

Just as the 2022 flood came with sadness to many homes, it also brought joy to some families . For instance, the likes of Adamson Augustine, Favour James, Godwin Gideon, Glory Felix, Anita Felix and Prince Alade, were at the weekend honoured by the Bayelsa state governor, Senator Douye Diri for rendering domestic assistance to the JTF at the peak of the 2022 flood, using local canoes.
The Governor used the occasion to commend the joint military taskforce for its synergy with the state government and other security agencies in making Bayelsa one of the safest states in Nigeria.
The Operation Delta Safe Commander, Rear Admiral Aminu Hassan also rewarded the 7 children in cash and kind.
Rear Admiral Aminu Hassan noted that the end of year get-together was organized for Officers and Men of the command to unwind after an eventful year. Parents of the honoured children shed tears of joy and showered blessings on the governor and the military Officer. Other highlights of the event were cultural displays and a military parade.
