Former President Goodluck Jonathan has commissioned 18 road projects in Bauchi metropolis executed by the State Government.
The projects cover about 49.7 kilometres and were executed at an estimated cost of 13.7 billion naira.
Governor Bala Mohammed said the projects were executed with the aim of improving connectivity, transportation and access to essential services within the state capital.
This is the second visit by former President Goodluck Jonathan to Bauchi State to commission projects executed by the state government.
At the commissioning of the roads, former President Jonathan commended the Bauchi State Government for what he described as practical and impactful governance.
He said the projects demonstrated visionary leadership and purposeful investment in infrastructure, stressing that good road networks remain critical to economic growth and development.
Earlier, in his remarks, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed said the projects reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the prudent management of public resources and the provision of infrastructure that supports economic growth.
The governor appealed to residents to protect the roads and avoid activities that could damage the newly completed infrastructure.
In a related development, former President Jonathan performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction and modernisation of recreational parks across the Bauchi metropolis.
The initiative is aimed at promoting tourism, creating recreational opportunities and boosting economic activities in the state.
The commissioning of the roads and the groundbreaking ceremony for the recreational parks formed part of Jonathan’s engagements in Bauchi State ahead of the Democracy Dialogue.
