Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mustapha Balogun, has died at age 74.
Family sources confirmed his death to crime correspondents on Thursday night, but did not give further details.

Earlier on Thursday, AIT.live observed the absence of the late police chief at an event attended by all living retired Inspectors-General of Police at an Election Security Workshop organised in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The late Balogun was appointed IGP in March 2002 by then President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Authorities of the Nigeria Police Force are yet to issue an official statement confirming the demise of IGP Balogun also known as Kamawu.
