Former governors of the South East have formed a new forum, in a move aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and supporting current leaders across the zone.

The former governors converged on Enugu State, on Tuesday, for their first-ever meeting under the platform, held behind closed doors.

In attendance were former governors of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Sullivan Chime; former Ebonyi State governor, Martin Elechi; former Anambra State governor, Chris Ngige; and former Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, former Ebonyi State governor and current Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, said the forum is designed to provide guidance and support to serving governors on key national and regional issues.

He also commended the current governors of the South East for their efforts in improving security, infrastructure, and human development across the zone.
