Nigeria’s national female team, the Super Falcons ended their United States summer series tour on a disappointing note with a 2-0 loss to the USA Women’s national team.
The eleven-time African champions went into the match on the back of a 3-3 draw and 1-0 loss against Portugal and Jamaica.
Still, Randy Waldrum’s women were hoping to cause an upset against the number one ranked women’s football nation in the world. They, however, found the American ladies too hot to handle, even though the scoreline was respectable.

The United States team piled pressure from the start, and it paid off in the first-half stoppage time after Christian Press fired past goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi to give them a first-half lead.
The second half resumed in a similar fashion with the US dominating possession- although they were wasteful in front of goal
However, they eventually got the second goal two minutes from time through Lynn Williams, who finished off a brilliant counter-attacking move.
It was a disappointing end for the Super Falcons, who will now turn their attention to the Africa Women Nations Cup qualifier against Ghana.
