Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the reappointment of the Paramount Ruler of Emohua Kingdom, Sergeant Chidi Awuse, as Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dagogo Wokoma.
Awuse, who also chairs the South-South Monarchs’ Forum, returns to the position he previously occupied between May 27, 2023, and June 21, 2024, before he was succeeded by Eze Chike Worlu-Wodo.
His return follows the exit of Worlu-Wodo, who has reportedly been facing some health challenges.
The development comes barely two days after Governor Fubara, while declaring open the 126th, 127th and 128th Quarterly Meetings of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers on Wednesday, October 28, indicated the need for a change in the leadership of the council.

Awuse’s reappointment on Friday, October 30, appears to give effect to the leadership change earlier signalled by the governor.
His return places him once again at the helm of the traditional institution in Rivers State, with the responsibility of providing leadership among the state’s traditional rulers and strengthening their role in promoting peace, unity and stability.
