Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed into law the 2026 Appropriation Bill, following its passage by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The budget, which stands at about one-point-eight trillion naira, is christened the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development.”
Thanking the lawmakers for the passage of the bill, The governor assured that the interest of the people and progress of the state will continue to be the number one priority of his administration.

The Governor’s assent follows the passage of the bill by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Governor Fubara had presented the appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly on July 10, with emphasis on infrastructure development, education, healthcare, economic growth and improved public service delivery.
The 1.8 trillion naira budget is designed to sustain economic growth, expand critical infrastructure, strengthen social services and improve the standard of living of residents.
The budget, tagged the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” provides 413.1 billion naira for recurrent expenditure and 1.4 trillion naira for capital projects.
Infrastructure takes the largest share of the capital spending plan, reflecting the administration’s emphasis on completing ongoing projects and opening up more communities across the state.
Education and healthcare also receive significant allocations, alongside provisions for agriculture, power, youth development, social services and other sectors.
For the Fubara Administration, the focus now shifts to ensuring that the resources approved are deployed efficiently to complete projects, deliver public services and create opportunities for the people.
With the Governor’s assent, the Rivers State Government now has the legal authority to commence full implementation of the 1.8 trillion naira 2026 Appropriation Law.
Governor Fubara is expected to maintain his administration’s emphasis on fiscal responsibility, transparency and prudent management of public resources as implementation gets underway.
