Police have confirmed the death of four persons, following an explosion from a shop of a local welder in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, North-West Nigeria.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Sanusi Abubakar confirmed the incident to journalists, where he said, that the explosion occurred on Sunday afternoon resulting in the death of four persons.

The police spokesperson however, said, the explosion is not connected to the security challenges bedeviling the area, but was as a result of an explosion from a gas cylinder in the shop of a local welder in the area, which led to the death of four persons. Three others who sustained injuries are reportedly in critical condition receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the state.
Eyewitness accounts in the community however put the casualty figure at five with claims that several other persons sustained different degrees of injuries.
They said the incident is happening at a time that is difficult for the people who are suffering from series of attacks on their communities by terrorists.
Council Chairman, Abubakar Yusuf Danali when contacted confirmed the incident but could not ascertain the number of casualties as he was not on the ground at the time the ugly incident.
