Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and her German counterpart, Dr. Johann Wadephul will hold bilateral talks in Abuja on Wednesday.

It is part of the top German official’s two-day official engagement in Nigeria aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic and security cooperation.

According to a statement issued by the German embassy, he will be accompanied by a delegation comprising German parliament members and business leaders from IT and energy companies.

A business roundtable with representatives of German and Nigerian companies, after which the German delegation will meet with civil society representatives and cultural practitioners.

The statement adds, “as Africa’s largest economy and one of Germany’s most important partners on the continent, Nigeria plays a key role in addressing global challenges ranging from sustainable economic development and energy transition to regional peace and security.”

From Nigeria, Germany’s Wadephul will move to South Africa, and his third visit to Africa over the last seven months perhaps reflects Berlin’s efforts to deepen its engagement with the continent.
