The body of the late former speaker of the House Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’Abba has been laid to rest at the Dandolo cemetery, in his home town Goron Dutse in Kano state amidst tears from family and friends.
Past and present Nigerian lawmakers who spoke to newsmen at the funeral, described the deceased as a fine parliamentarian and disciplined leader who brought stability to the legislature.
There were uncontrollable displays of mourning among the crowd when his body was brought to the prayer ground; with Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and his deputy, as well as other top political and religious leaders present at the open ground of the Emir’s palace.
Ghali Umar Na’Abba died on Wednesday in Kano at the age of 65.
